Early October walk in the Forest

On 8th October around 15 of us arrived at Loughton Station for a walk through Epping Forest, led by Parviz.

We set off just after 10.00 in glorious sunshine, and made our way to Connaught Water, where some of us watched an adult swan having a go at some Canada geese - they were being fed at the time - which looked quite scary but the geese didn't seem to be bothered. Other people who had gone on a little way ahead reported seeing a heron catching a fish.

We carried on, and had an enjoyable lunch stop at the Kiosk near the Pillow Mounds, and after a quick visit to the Visitor Centre we headed off again, back through the Forest where a brief stop took place when some members discovered a makeshift swing; cue lots of shrieks as a few brave people relived their childhood and had a go (no names mentioned); we then carried on back to Loughton Station.

Thanks to Parviz for an enjoyable walk and for arranging such lovely weather!
